PRINCIPLES

How I make decisions.

  1. Know the critical path.

    Before a system goes into production, I map its dependencies, failure modes, restore procedures, and ownership.

  2. Use systems I can debug.

    I choose tools I can inspect and explain. Novelty is not a reason to use them.

  3. Build operations in.

    I plan deployment, monitoring, backups, and recovery from the start.
